“I am passionate about the power of yoga to bring balance to the body and mind and support us in daily life.”

Sally Mayaveram, teacher of Integrated and Restorative Yoga

I teach a form of hatha yoga combining flowing postures with more restorative and restful poses. This gives a complete balance back to the body and mind. The emphasis of this practice is on opening, reviving, releasing and healing. The body is filled with breath and awareness. The mind is brought back into balance. The flow of energy in the body is restored and the many internal systems rejuvenated. I am particularly interested in using yoga to help the nervous system enter a healing mode, balancing hormones, recovering from illness, injury and burnout.

I also occasionally run extended Restorative Yoga sessions on weekends. This is a blend of restorative, yin and somatic yoga. A slow, mindful practice focusing on relaxing and regulating the nervous system. Passively held postures are supported by the use of props such as bolsters and blocks, minimising muscular effort and enhancing energy flow back to the organs. The extended periods of stillness can bring balance back to the mind and a deep relaxation response in the body.

Both practices are suitable for people of all ages and abilities.
